I’ve always been an animal lover.
So when I began volunteering at Great Lakes Humane Society, I knew it was only a matter of time until I brought a dog home.
Below is the story of Luke, the puppy I adopted last month.
Luke’s owner abandoned him at a high-kill pound in Big Spring, Texas back in June 2017. He was numbered K37 and given less than a week to find a new home.
Fast forward a few months (and nearly 1,500 miles), I met Luke. I instantly fell in love with his goofy ears, inquisitive nature and sweet disposition.
We certainly weren’t planning to adopt a puppy quite yet, but there’s this saying: you don’t pick your dog, they pick you.
Luke’s first month at home has been filled with naps, snacks and new experiences. He still has plenty of adjusting to do but he’s off to a great start!
I can’t thank the wonderful people at Pets Alive, GLHS and Kindred Hearts Transport Connection enough for giving my little guy a second chance at life.
